Nice case especially since I got it for 1/3 of its price (40€ at the flea market: a bargain)

The Antec Skeleton is a truly revolutionary enclosure. With a unique design that allows for unprecedented airflow, a front 92mm fan, and a top three speed 250mm fan with multicolor LED customization, the Skeleton goes utterly unmatched in stylish cooling. Factor in the layered component trays for top-notch convenience, as well as the rack mount quality side rails, and you have a case truly without equal.

The old case and the new Antec Skeleton case ready to be use. A smaller Antec Skeleton for Mini-ITX boards: Mini Skeleton-90 is also available.

Nothing particular while mounting everything in the new case, it is quite fast to mount everything in the Antec Skeleton. Note that disks will be “hanging” on both side of the case. Quite unusual setup for your disks. The bottom level is for your power supply, hard drives, and CDROM drives if any. The upper level is for the motherboard and PCI cards. If your target is aesthetic (I did not took care in this first setup), cable routing can be a bit tedious and will take some time.

The big fan on top make the whole setup quite silent, it’s design, fully open (ready to collect dust would say some of you), top the heat accumulated in the case to near zero. The lighted 220mm top fan can be a bit distracting when it cycles through colors (blue-green-red) but it can be switch off. Three fan speed are available depending on your acceptance for level of noise.

The whole computer ready to display high definition videos, Since the case is fully open, there is some precaution to take: don’t drop any metal objects and liquid onto it or you will surely break something or worse!

And an overall picture of the Antec Skeleton case empty:

Some candy are provided in kit, a nice gift...thanks www.watercooling.de

Installing the ventilator: Attention, with the kit of my brother (bought on www.ebay.de ) we receive a SANFU radiator with a Paps ventilator mounted on it. After installing everything, we try the system: 65°C and the system reboot (35°C in room)....in fact the ventilator was extracting air and not pushing fresh air on the radiator. I reversed the air flow and as a result we get 52°C even in BURN mode....(True XP2800+ with an Innovatek cool 3.0)

    • A must for ears, so quiet and so easy to install (only if you reduce voltage of fans from 12V to 5V as on PC2).
    • I recommend you a middle or big tower to install everything inside (as on PC1)
    • I recommend you to choose the smallest radiator available (the senfu on PC1 provide good performance at a noise level you can not hear!!!!)
    • Expensive? yes¨but:
      1. You can use part during years...You must admit that this is not the case with your air cooling radiator. For example: forget you Alpha pal 6035 with your latest XP 3000, it is only validated till 1500MHz, it cost me alone 50â?¬
      2. You can choose a less expensive radiator, or buy an old one from an old car, but you will have to cleaned it properly.
      3. You do not need 2 or 3 ventilators, one is enough.
    • Maintenance? every 6 months check the coolant.
  • In the past 2 weeks, I use to have my watercooling pump (Eheim 1048) making a very bad noise for the first time after 1.5 years of 24/7 operations...and I found this page:
I've done the mods and......lovely the silence of operations is back!!! thanks to all persons which have tried this mod before! :-) it is really working!

  • I will try to keep an history of all my previous machine on this page...yes it is just a nerd/geek behavior...

    In 15 years...

    • Cost in euro are in green, are similar in amount, you just get more size, disk, speed for your buck
    • 1208 times more IPS and my PC is still sometimes hanging (In order Vista, XP, Linux I look at you) :-(
    • 81 times more disk space!
    • Power consumption 360 watts today :-(
    • PC are still slower than what I expect...

Instructions per second (IPS) is a measure of a computer's processor speed. Many reported IPS
values have represented "peak" execution rates on artificial instruction sequences with few branches,
whereas realistic workloads consist of a mix of instructions and even applications, some of which take
longer to execute than others. The performance of the memory hierarchy also greatly affects processor
performance, an issue barely considered in MIPS calculations. Because of these problems, researchers
created standardized tests such as SPECint to (maybe) measure the real effective performance in
commonly used applications, and raw IPS has fallen into disuse. [WikiPedia]

This is probably one of the best stepping ever produced as today (6.06.2003) by AMD, far away better then JIUHB, JIUGB and JIUCB with the revision DUT3C. The core is using as default only 1.5V instead of 1.6V (JIU*B stepping)!
When using 1.55V, this kind of cpu is handling a confortable XP-2800. Pushing it to limit (1.775V) let me reach 2500MHz (FSB:200MHz, multiplier 12,5) this is damn a XP3000+ This CPU also outpassed AMD's Athlon XP 3000+ with Barton core (they run at only 2166MHz and cost 400€). The AGB-O-Matic

The AGB-O-Matic is used for filling and de-aerating a water cooling system. The use of this device is very simple: You just need to plug it onto the EHEIM pump. Then, the pump can suck in the fresh water directly and absolutely free of blow holes.
Despite of the slim design of 50x56x120 mm, the AGB-O-Matic provides a huge filling volume. The tank is leakproofed which makes it possible to transport the device easily. After installing the AGB-O-Matic, the water cooling system is filled though the aparture at the top (see picture).

The AGB-O-Matic is optimized for the Eheim pumps 1046 and 1048. It consists of glass fibre reinforced plastics.
As standard, the runback flow is equipped with one 8x1 screw connection. The 1/4 inch screw thread makes it possible to use other connectors and therefore to combine the AGB-O-Matic with tubes that have other diameters.

    Technical facts:
    Weight: 110 g
    Material: Glass fibre reinforced plastics
Dimensions (without the pump): 50x56x120 mm
Fits with Eheim 1046 and 1048
Equipped with one 8x1 screw connection
    Watercool HTF2-Dual 2.0
    The features in detail:
    • Very powerful design with large surface (the copper pipe is more than 6 m long)
    • the cooling liquid flows parallel through the pipes at the same time which helps to avoid streaming loss
    • Turbo fins for optimal heat dissipation
    • Antechamber for the air which provides consistent pressure build-up
    • Optimized for slow rotating fans with a diameter of 120 mm
    • fan installation using included screw threads
    • screw threads at both sides of the cooling unit for installation in or at the case
    • high quality material
    • G ¼ inch screw-in sockets for installation with all connecting systems
    • robust powder coating

Material:Pipes: copper (diameter 8 mm), Fins: aluminium, Sides: stainless steal
    Dimensions outside: 285 x 137 x 58 mm
Installation: 8x M4 screw threads on top (for two fans with a diameter of 120 mm), 4x M4 screw threads at both sides (for the installation in or at the case)
    Compressive strength: until 30 bar
Surface: black, powder coating, stainless steal, polished

Electronic add-on module for flow monitoring

Flow-O-Matic electronic flow monitoring is used for active electronic flow monitoring in the water circulation of your watercooling. It is simply put into the cycle and then emits a signal, as long as a flow is present. It is simply attached to the Main board and the emited signal can be analyzed by the BIOS or suitable software (e.g. MBM). It contains also 2 bue leds.
    Eheim 1048 Centrifugal pump

    1048 Centrifugal pump
    Pump performance 600 l/h
    Hoisting hight 1,50 mWs
    Power consumption 10 W
    Tube connection suction-sided (ingoing) Ã?13mm
    Tube connection pressure-sided (outgoing) Ã?13mm
    Measurements mm 145 x 75 x 118 mm

The pump is hardly audible and can be used in and outside of the water. It has a 220 volt connection.
    2 Titan Fan 120x120x25

    Dimensions: 120x120x25mm
    Voltage: 12 Volt
    Air flow: 2,30³/min

  • Purpose

Bring all kind of multimedia format to your home Cinema or TV by connecting your pc onto it.

    • A modern Media center has to play at least the following format:

MPEG 1 and 2 movies (MPEG files, VCDs, DVDs...)
    MPEG 4 movies (DivX, XviD...)
RealMedia and Windows Media movies (WMV and WM9).
    OggMedia streams (open source format)
    Audio streams like : MP3, Ogg/Vorbis, WAV (AudioCD), AC3...

    • Using a remote controller and easy navigation menu, no keyboard is needed except for internet navigation
    • Reading media from CD/DVD or better a local hardisk (inside the pc) and even better from a remote PC that act as a storage server (with a lot of disk)

If it is a PC, you can use:

    • An old pentium class notebook, (can be bought in some shop for 200â?¬)
    • A Mini-ITX VIA Epia/Eden (below 200â?¬)
    • Build a Shuttle barebones (Mini-ATX).
    • Use a very old PC you are no more using. (they are only big and sometimes noisy)

Otherwise a modified XBOX (300â?¬ because of IR kit + modchips) can be an ellegant alternative, not so much noise, small.

    Some links

I recommend You to try the first 2 of this list, personnaly I will try now the Xbox media center solution.

    • Based on Linux
    • Based on mplayer one of the best multimedia player on linux (aside XINE)
    • Very small (4 Mb as today) and highly configurable ISO (you can create it yourself with a tool)
    • Require a pentium 400Mhz
    • IR controller must be LIRC compatible (nearly all TV card like MIRO)
    • In development but already usable

If You see no share drive, enter in debug mode by pressing "d" (quickly at startup) then "ebug"
    # smbtree -Ndisplay all samba drive found on network
    if it is blank:
    - verify that you ethernet card is recognized (not the case with my pcmcia ethernet on a IBM T23 but internal ethernet was recognized)
How to mount a share by name
    # mkdir /mnt/video
    # smbmount //computerName/_movies /mnt/Video -o username=XXXXX,password=YYYYYY
if it is working then you must modify the file init and add the above line....use the generator and burn a new CD

I recommend this mod, if you want to use a old PC

:MoviX is a small Linux distro that transforms your PC in a powerful multimedia box. After booting your PC with MoviX, a user-friendly console menu will allow you to use MPlayer to play any DVD/VCD, video/audio files (most noticeably DivX, AVI, MPEG, QuickTime, WMV, ASF, MP3, and OGG/VORBIS), TV (provided you have a TV card), and radio stations on the Internet (if you are connected to a LAN). Since the entire operating system is loaded into RAM, you do not even need a hard disk to use MoviX.

  • Unusual case where you can put a computer using VIA Mini-ITX mainboards

    Mes conseils:
